Drummer Sylvia Cuenca is active in both the New York and San Francisco Bay Area music scenes. She has shared the bandstand with saxophonist Joe Henderson for four years and with trumpeter Clark Terry for 17 years. In 1992, Sylvia was a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Drum Competition. She has performed with Billy Taylor, Eddie Henderson, Gary Bartz, Kenny Barron, Ray Drummond, Frank Foster, Red Holloway, Jimmy Heath, Al Grey, Frank Wess, Michael Brecker, Houston Person, Etta Jones and many others. Sylvia will be joined by Wallace Roney Jr. on trumpet, Rico Jones on tenor saxophone, David Kikoski on piano and Essiet Essiet on bass. Celebrate with Sylvia during her birthday performances at Smalls.  SBL
