KARRIN ALLYSON QUARTET

JAZZ FORUM ARTS / MARCH 27-28

Vocalist Karrin Allyson performs with pianist Miki Yamanaka and bassist Ed Howard. A five-time GRAMMY Award nominee, Karrin has built a distinguished career spanning more than three decades, releasing numerous albums on the Concord Jazz label. Originally from Kansas City, she is known for her versatile approach, moving fluidly between jazz standards, bebop, Brazilian music, and pop interpretations, often incorporating French, Portuguese and Spanish into her performances. An accomplished pianist herself, Karrin occasionally accompanies her own vocals. Miki, a Tokyo-born pianist now based in New York, has become an in-demand performer and bandleader on the contemporary jazz scene. Ed is a veteran bassist whose credits include work with Freddie Hubbard, Abbey Lincoln and the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All-Stars. The lineup features Karrin on vocals, Miki on piano, and Ed on bass.  JZZ
