JOE LOVANO QUARTET

GRAMMY Award–winning saxophonist, producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Joe Lovano has a spring swing fling coming to the Vanguard. This is an opportunity to see a big fish in a small (but legendary) pond. Lovano has won Album of the Year, Saxophonist of the Year, Musician of the Year, and other awards from the major jazz publications. From 1991 through 2016, Lovano released an unprecedented 25 albums as a leader for Blue Note Records. He was part of a famed trio with Paul Motian and Bill Frisell. John Scofield, Dave Holland, Al Foster, Hank Jones, Bill Stewart, Lonnie Smith, Dave Liebman, Michael Brecker—his list of noted collaborators is too long to comprehensively mention. Joe also played with mentee Esperanza Spalding in Us Five. Whether playing bop, modal, free, big band, or other flavors of jazz, Joe has always been one of the tops in the biz. DJP
