Saxophonist and composer David Murray is best known for the World Saxophone Quartet, one of the most successful avant-garde groups in jazz. David has worked with Max Roach, Randy Weston, Pharoah Sanders, McCoy Tyner and Jerry Garcia. His instantly recognizable style draws from free jazz, gospel, and R&B while remaining grounded in a robust tenor sound. The New York Times named his 2024 album, Francesca (Intakt), its top jazz album of the year. At the Blue Note, David will appear with pianist Marta Sanchez, bassist Luke Stewart, drummer Russell Carter, and featured vocalist Francesca Cinelli. DJS
