Canadian trumpeter, bandleader, and singer Bria Skonberg takes up residency at the House of Swing for five shows over three nights in March. The popular songstress will be joined by Luther Allison on piano, Liany Mateo on bass and Zach Adleman on drums.  Bria’s voice is like a chocolate-covered pretzel, the perfect combination of salty and sweet. Combine that gorgeous singing with her Nawlins-inflected trumpeting and engaging charisma and a night with Bria is always an enjoyable one. She recently released two singles. “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” feels kind of blue, in the best way, and “Markham Sunrise” swings with a Latin Jazz-meets-“Chattanooga Choo Choo” vibe. Bria is one of jazz’s bright lights and it feels like she’s just getting started. DJP
