Drummer and educator Billy Hart is still busy teaching, performing and traveling. Not only is he considered one of the greatest drummers in jazz, he is also equally at home in many styles, originally working with Otis Redding and Sam & Dave before joining with Shirley Horn. Billy has toured with Wes Montgomery and Herbie Hancock and has recorded with an impressive list of artists including Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, McCoy Tyner, Stan Getz, Clark Terry, Art Farmer and many others. He has been named an NEA Jazz Master plus many other honors including a Lifetime Achievement Award, a GRAMMY Award nomination, and #1 Jazz Drummer in Modern Drummer Reader’s Poll. Billy returns to Dizzy’s with his quartet, featuring NEA Jazz Master saxophonist Craig Handy, pianist Ethan Iverson and bassist Ben Street. DJS
