ALLAN HARRIS
BIRDLAND JAZZ CLUB / JULY 17-19

A vocalist and guitarist whose instrument is the American song itself, Allan Harris occupies a singular place in New York jazz — deeply rooted in the traditions of Nat King Cole, Joe Williams, and Johnny Hartman, and entirely his own. Allan plays piano, guitar, and sings, which means any given set can move in directions that keep even longtime listeners alert. Birdland has long been Allan's home room in New York and the chemistry between performer and audience there is palpable from the first note. Three nights, two sets nightly.
